Overview

About the Role

Argus is looking for a Backend Engineer to build the data platform that powers our discovery and classification engine. You will work on systems that scan petabytes of customer data daily and surface the insights that drive every product surface — from risk dashboards to real-time detections.

What You Will Do

Design and build distributed services for high-throughput data scanning and classification. Optimize ingestion pipelines for cost and performance across multi-cloud environments. Collaborate with product and ML teams to ship new classifiers and detection capabilities. Own services end-to-end — from architecture decisions through deployment and on-call rotation. Contribute to platform-wide reliability and observability work.

What We Are Looking For

5+ years building backend systems at scale, ideally in Go, Rust, or Java. Deep experience with distributed systems and event-driven architectures using Kafka, Pulsar, or similar. Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure including Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS or GCP. Strong sense for system design tradeoffs at petabyte scale. Bonus: prior experience with security tooling, data classification, or DLP products.
